OUR PASTOR

Derek T. Murry

       Pastor Derek Terrell Murry is a native of Selma, Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Troy University Montgomery and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Auburn University Montgomery (AUM). He is currently employed by the Alabama National Guard and serves as an adjunct professor at Judson College in Marion, Al.

   

       In July of 2019, Pastor Murry was elected as the Senior Pastor of the St James Baptist Church Holt Crossing. Previously, he served as the Associate Pastor of St. James. He also has served as an associate minister, Pastor’s Personal Aide (PPA) Ministry Leader, and Christianity 101 teacher. From 2011 to 2018, he faithfully served as the college and young adult ministry leader at St. James. Under his leadership, the ministry began weekly bible study on the campus of Alabama State University to minister to college students.

 

        Pastor Murry attributes his initial love of God to the early bible studies he shared with his grandmother, the late Mary Barnes. Pastor Murry remains dedicated to equipping the people of God to live a life fully devoted to Christ. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Murry plans to continue to glorify the Lord by living God’s Word and spreading the Gospel to all willing to hear.

        Pastor Murry is married to the wonderful Jewinda Murry.
